New Haven Yard of the Month Recognition
Launches May 1
On May 1 and continuing through September the City of New Haven and the New Haven Garden Club (NHGC) will cosponsor the fourth annual Pride of New Haven Yard of the Month. Yard of the Month recognizes New Haven residents for their landscaping and gardening skills. Monthly winners are honored with a yard sign, gifts from local businesses and recognition in local media.
All who live within the city limits of New Haven are eligible to enter their gardens or those of neighbors and friends. Residents are not limited in the number of gardens they nominate. Ballots can be picked up and deposited at New Haven City Hall, Seitters Market and the NH Scenic Regional Library. A ballot is also included in this publication.
There are many types of gardens: pollinator, shade, native plant, cottage, parterre, topiary, rock, butterfly and we are interested in recognizing all of them. Since our program extends through September we also look forward to attracting fall gardeners. Yard of the Month is an opportunity for our local gardeners to share their creativity and enhance our community. Anyone who is interested in entering a garden but is hesitant or has questions, may contact us or any NHGC member. We look forward to receiving your nominations for the 2024 Pride of New Haven Yard of the Month Recognition.
